October is entrepreneurship month at UQ, hosted by Idea Network, the only entrepreneurship society on campus! The Pitch & Mix Night is a free event for Idea Network members.

Students will pitch their ideas to you, some looking for feedback and advice, others looking for people to work with them. You’ll get an opportunity to discuss and evaluate a real world example as an appetizer to begin with, and then we’ll dive right into the pitches. After each pitch, members break into groups to discuss the idea, and then can provide feedback to the person who pitched. The night concludes with free pizza and socialising!

AGENDA
5pm – 5:15pm: Into & appetizer discussion
5:15pm – 6pm: Three main pitches, broken up with plenty discussion!
6pm +: Free pizza, mix & socialise

Bob Ansett, the founder of Budget Rent a Car will speak for Idea Network on the 24th of October at 2pm, Room E219, Building 1, UQ St Lucia Campus. Bob is a world class entrepreneur and best-selling author, this event is not to be missed! This event is free for Idea Network members. Please aim to arrive 10 minutes before the event begins.

We are pleased to announce that the Hon. Wyatt Roy will be speaking to the IDEA Network on Tuesday, August 30, at 1:45pm in the Chemistry podium (building 68).

Wyatt Roy made history last year when he was elected as Australia’s youngest ever Member of Parliament at the age of 20. He has studied International Relations, Political Science, Economics and Public Policy at both LaTrobe University and the University of Queensland. On Tuesday he will be telling us the story of his success at such a young age, and providing us with insight that we can use to support our own ambitions.

Our first meeting was already a great success, but now we really get started.

Our second meeting will take place on Monday the 22.08.2011 at the University of Queensland, St. Lucia Campus.

We will have Andrew Davis from UniQuest to talk to you about intellectual property protection and we take applications for pitches of your idea! To make it even better, we have one ticket to the Enterprize competition finals (including the after-show networking party) for the best pitch of the meeting.

Today is going to be big day to get everything started officially. Or in other words: Market Day at the University of Queensland is on!

Hopefully this will bring the IDEA Network lots of new people who really want to take part in making their own business ideas and the IDEA Network itself a great club for UQ.
